1. Which very well known Welsh pirate lost his treasure on this day in 1669?

Answer: Henry Morgan

The ship Morgan had received as a gift from England and meant to protect Port Royal, the HMS Oxford, which was carrying the loot from two recently sacked French ships, was blown up during a party by sparks from a fire roasting pork while landing in the ammunitions depot. Morgan and his officers survived the blaze, but his treasure was lost to the sea off of Ile a Vache.
2. According to tradition, two famous Romans, Ovid and Livy, died on the second of January, AD17. What were their respective professions?

Answer: Poet and historian

Ovid's full names were Publius Ovidius Naso. Mozart's "Apollo et Hyacinthus" opera is an adaptation of one of Ovid's poems. Livy's full names were Titus Livius. He wrote "Ab Urbe Condita" which chronicles Rome's history from its foundation through the reign of Augustus.
3. On this day in 1492, the "Catholic Monarchs" captured Granada, the last Moorish stronghold in Spain. Which royal couple does the term "Catholic Monarchs" refer to?

Answer: Ferdinand and Isabella

The couple were given the title "Catholic King and Queen" by Pope Alexander VI. Isabella was a year older than Ferdinand. Their marriage brought together the crowns of Castile and Aragon.

Answer: Cardinal Richelieu

The Academy consists of forty members. These members are known as "immortels" or "immortals" and are members for life. The Academy is the official authority on the French language in France.

The trial was called "the trial of the century" and Hauptmann earned the nickname "The Most Hated Man in the World". Hauptmann was convicted on the charges of kidnapping and murder and sentenced to death. He was executed by electric chair on 3 April 1936.

Kate made her debut in "The Horse Whisperer" and has appeared in several other films since. In 2006 she played Lois Lane in "Superman Returns". She is an only child and was a member of the National Honour Society in high school.

Answer: St Defendens of Thebes

According to Christian tradition, St Defendens was a member of the Theban Legion. He is invoked agains wolves and fires. The painter Defendente Ferrari was named after him.
