Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Racers commenced the tenth leg of the race, held in the Dominican Republic, in which spot?

Answer: On a boat

Teams left off at the end of Leg 9 on the edge of the Caribbean Sea in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and for the penultimate leg of the race they stayed in the country. Instead, however, the final four teams were brought to the beachside town of Sosúa to start themselves off, heading out into the crystal clear waters off Sosúa Beach on a catamaran. From here, teams had to don flippers and masks and swim out into the sea to find a clue attached to a marked buoy.

They could unclip it, head to shore, and continue racing from there.
2. In the 'Dive Trip' Detour task in Leg 10, teams needed to assemble which of the following on the north shores of the Dominican Republic?

Answer: Diving rigs

Reaching Sosúa Beach, racers ripped open their clues to find the race's final Detour, a choice between 'Dive Trip' and 'Rum Sip'. None of the teams ended up pursuing the 'Dive Trip' Detour option, which would have had them join the local divers in assembling four scuba diving rigs to the proper specifications. Once complete, racers could load them up into a boat on the beach, and help launch the craft into the water to collect their next clue.
3. In the 'Rum Sip' Detour option in Leg 10, which of these drinks was not on the menu for teams to make?

Answer: Screwdriver

Racers choosing the 'Rum Sip' Detour option in Leg 10 had to head to the Diversity Bar on Sosúa Beach to attend to some thirsty pirates. Although there were nine pirates, racers had to create the proper drink orders for six of them, memorizing recipes at the bar and then delivering them to the proper people to get their next clue. Racers had to make all of their drinks with rum, so while screwdriver was not on the menu, rum sour, excelencia, santo libre, ron golpe, coco loco, Caribbean mule, mojito, pina colada, and huracan all were. All four teams completed this task.
4. Racers had to participate in which activity, keeping balance for one minute to get their clue in Leg 10 (in the Dominican Republic)?

Answer: Windsurfing

Closing out their Detour tasks, racers had to hop into cabs and take a ride to the nearby town of Cabarete to find a clue box on the beach. This would be the Road Block for this leg of the race, and for this task one member of each team needed to 'take a stand'. Hitting the water, the participating racer needed to learn how to windsurf. If they could keep their balance and windsurf for a full minute, they could get their next clue. Ricky, Leticia, Juan, and Vinny were selected for this challenge.
5. Which team was last to be eliminated from the race, hitting the mat fourth in Leg 10 (in the Dominican Republic)?

Answer: Amber and Vinny

Completing the Road Block in Cabarete, racers took their cabs to Olympus Beach to locate waiting dune buggies the contained their final clue for the leg. To get to the Pit Stop they needed to take their dune buggies along a marked road to its end, then hop into tandem kayaks to paddle across a river to the secret hideaway of Wilson's Bar, where they hoped to stave off elimination. Rod and Leticia managed to make it to the mat in first place, their first since the race's start in Mexico, winning a trip for two to Rome, Italy from Expedia. Unable to pull out of last place, Amber and Vinny were eliminated in fourth place though, despite this, they ended up winners after Vinny proposed on the mat. Amber said yes.
6. The race's final destination city was which of these locations?

Answer: Philadelphia

The final three teams only had one final to-do to close out "The Amazing Race" and it started with a flight to the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where, upon opening their clues at the same time at the top of the steps in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (where the first "Rocky" movie had its iconic moment), racers set out on their last leg. To begin this gauntlet, racers needed to drive themselves to Lincoln Financial Field to find their first clue outside.
7. The first Road Block encountered by racers in their final leg involved dressing as a football mascot and completing a series of tasks on the field. Which mascot was not seen?

Answer: Franklin

Although Franklin is a mascot for the Philadelphia Sixers, racers only met with the Phillie Phanatic, Swoop, and Gritty, all major sports characters from the city. Arriving at Lincoln Financial Field, racers had to dress up as a mascot themselves, wearing a colossal globe mascot head and hitting the field for a series of small tasks.

After navigating their unbalanced selves through an obstacle course, Leticia, Ricky, and Shane had to show their team spirit by firing a t-shirt cannon at a target in the crowd.
8. In the final leg, racers had to memorize a passage from which of these famous documents?

Answer: The Declaration of Independence

After leaving Lincoln Financial Field, racers needed to navigate through Philadelphia in a series of tasks around its city centre. First, racers needed to drive to Pat's and Geno's, a pair of famous Philly cheesesteak restaurants known for their rivalry. If racers could find the cluebox outside this block, they could get another Route Info clue.

Leaving Pat's and Geno's, racers drove to Headhouse Square, or New Market, where they had to split the responsibility of memorizing the preamble to the United States Declaration of Independence. Proper recitation would give them their next clue.
9. The final Road Block of the race involved reconstructing which of these American symbols?

Answer: American Flag

Leaving Headhouse Square, racers made their way to the famous Betsy Ross House, where Betsy Ross made the first American flag, and there they found the final Road Block task of the race. For this task, one member of each team needed to 'earn their stripes' by recalling their American history. Cesar, Leticia, and Juan had to assemble their own original American flag to reflect Betsy Ross', but in doing so they needed to list the original Thirteen Colonies, in their correct order, to complete the task. Fortunately, racers could listen to lectures about the histories of these states to solve this logic puzzle and get the task done.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race 36"?

Answer: Ricky and Cesar

After the final Road Block, racers had one more task to complete. Walking on foot to the Arch Street Friends Meeting House, they needed to recreate the Liberty Bell as part of a large 3D puzzle to get one last clue. This one would have them headed for the finish line waiting at the Glen Foerd Estate.

After nearly twelve thousand miles around the Western Hemisphere, it was Ricky and Cesar, who won the majority of the legs of the race, who landed on the mat in first place to win the $1,000,000 prize, taking with them one of the strongest team records in "Amazing Race" history, never falling out of the top three.

They were followed by Juan and Shane in second place and Rod and Leticia in third.
