    		Any bacteria with the genus Mycobacterium, such as Tuberculosis or Leprosy.

    Leprosy, then, because you say 'lion-faced' in the question, and because leprosy is a common disease in all of those tales.

    		Correct. Leonine facies can be a sign of lepromatous leprosy, which can be diagnosed with an acid fast stain. This lion like appearance can also be found in Paget's disease, but would be unlikely with the character in the TV series.
