    Phoenician alphabet used by the civilization of Phoenicia.

    This is correct.

    The Phoenician's nickname "Purple People" came from the purple dye they manufactured in Mesopotamia and Mogador.

    You know it's funny, they were referred to as "purple" people. In ancient Rome the saying went that purple was the color of royalty, and the Hebrew term for "chosen people" comes from the same root as "purple" ("s'gulah"). It's not entirely impossible that this is the real meaning of the term in Phoenician...
