An underarm delivery is when a ball is bowled from under - picture holding the ball and your arm is hanging down by your leg, bring you arm back behind you and then swing thru in a downward swing and letting go as you arm is parallel to the ground - this is an underarm delivery.

Although not illegal, they are considered unsportsman like. In February 1981, Australian Trevor Chappell bowled the last ball underarm in a test match against New Zealand. New Zealand had required a six off that last ball, which was impossible to do off the underarm bowl.

Instead of bowling over-arm in cricket (i.e. releasing the ball at the highest point of vertical circular motion of the arm), the ball is almost rolled flat on the ground or pitch from the lowest point of vertical circular motion of arm. This is a borderline case of legally acceptable bowling in cricket, but un-sportsmanlike.
