    After Obama's term is up, will he be automatically reinstated as a senator or will he have to run again?

    		Under state law and the federal Constitution, the governor of Illinois would appoint a successor to the Senate. The successor could run as an incumbent in 2010, which is when Obama's seat is up for election. As the seat is up for re-election in 2010 and Obama's term as President term expires in 2012. He would either have to wait a few more year for election to the Senate again if he wishes.
