    Amylase is produced by the exocrine pancreas and the salivary glands to aid in the digestion of starch. It is also produced by the small intestine mucosa, ovaries, placenta, liver, and fallopian tubes.

    Amylase are names given to enzymes that break down starch. They are classified as saccharidases, enzymes that cleave polysaccharide(s).

    Amyalase (salivary amylase) is an enzyme secreted by the salivary glands. It is also called ptyalin. It help in the process of digestion.
