This hit that recently turned silver was to have been known by less thrilling names. What were they?

    Michael Jackson's "Thriller"--a platinum recording, by the way--is 25 years old now--silver.

"When Rod Temperton wrote the song 'Thriller', he originally wanted to call it 'Starlight' or 'Midnight Man' but settled on it because he felt the name had merchandising potential."

Yes, and this link for the single "Thriller" also mentions a third alternative, "Starlight Love".
