I'm assuming, since the question does not specify otherwise, that it refers to best-selling album by a group worldwide and not just in the USA and so I've answered the question accordingly. According to a recent article here: www.examiner.com/x-7047-SF-Music-Industry-Examiner~y2009m6d26-Bestselling-albums-of-all-time-Michael-Jacksons-Thriller-top... - which notes that Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' is the best-selling album of all time, it appears that the biggest selling album by a group is 'Back in Black' by AC/DC, which has apparently notched up sales of 45 million worldwide, more than its closest rivals Meat Loaf, The Eagles Greatest Hits and Dirty Dancing Soundtrack.
