For the period around 1130, the sentence comes from a nunnery in Munsterbilzen in Belgian Limburg.

It refers to a religious community of monks and nuns and talks about their virtue.
The first part of the quotation is Old Flemish and the second part is Latin. It is among the oldest Dutch writings, coming from 1130.
    Roughly, it means:

This community was noble and clean, and fulfilled all virtues.

Some months ago Hubby and Daughter went to the land of their birth and among other things visited a museum of art by a compatriot. Last night we were looking at some of his work online and found him quoted as saying something to the effect that people in Paris are tired of beauty but people from his country hunger for it. Although he claims to have found beauty, we agreed he must be starving by now...though his figures look anything but starved. To whom do I refer, and where does he presently reside?

Why do some people refer to a hair salon or a beauty salon as a hair/beauty saloon, and what is the origin of this slight deviation of spelling?
