This mayor and opponent of Proposition 8 was photographed with his then wife sprawled like goods in a bazaar on the rug of a furniture designer and her composer husband. The latter wrote an opera that is the namesake of the business founded by the mayor. What monarch originated the name of that opera and business?

The monarch is Charles II.
Eric Villency is the current husband of KImberly Gilfoyle the ex-wife of Gavin Newsom mayor of San Francisco.
Restoration of the Monarchy is a fashion brand created by Eric Villency in 2007. The name originated from the historical, British era referred to as: ‘The Restoration.’ In 1660 the English Parliament restored Charles II to the British throne, ending the British Commonwealth and resulting in the repeal of strict Puritan laws and censorship

No, sorry Boycie, but qp got it right. Gordon Getty is the composer who wrote "PlumpJack", the same name of Newsom's chain of businesses.
The Shakespeare character Falstaff was dubbed by Queen Elizabeth I "Plump Jack".

Agreed. Got sidetracked when I saw what Villency's fashion line was called.
