In what does the pronunciation of Hebrew sherut differ from English cheroot?

    Question #101147. Asked by flem-ish. (Nov 19 08 11:43 PM)

I've listened to the pronunciation of "cheroot" here: http://mw1.m-w.com/dictionary/cheroot

It sounds much like the Hebrew pronunciation of "sherut" (eng. "service"), but bear in mind that the English "r" is very far from the Hebrew "r" ("reish"), the latter coming from deep within the throat.
