Is there any difference between compering (pronounced: com-pe-a-ring) and anchoring?

Question #101195. Asked by bikoz. (Nov 22 08 1:48 AM)

Both terms indicate the action of drawing together disparate parts of a presentation, but they are usually used in different contexts.

Compering means 'acting as a Master of Ceremonies'. It suggests a series of performers or entertainment segments.

Anchoring means acting as the coordinating reporter of a broadcast to which multiple reporters contribute.
