What does David Foster have to do with the Paul Simon song 'Bridge Over Troubled Water?'

Question #101628. Asked by Jubal. (Dec 10 08 11:03 PM)

I wondered that myself when Josh Groban sang it on Great Performances featuring David Foster.

I have found that Foster was producer on Bonnie Tyler's cover of the song, which was written by Paul Simon.

Seems to me like a rather tenuous connection to include the song in this particular collection.

This may be a better reference:

Exactly. That's when I began trying to track down a connection. Thanks for your help!

And just as further information, the original Simon & Garfunkel recording (1970) was co-produced by Roy Halee, Paul Simon, and Art Garfunkel.

Roy Halee is a record producer and engineer. Halee grew up in Long Island, New York. He was named to the TEC Awards Hall of Fame in 2001. He was best known for producing several albums with Simon and Garfunkel, including the Grammy-winning Bridge Over Troubled Water. He has also worked with other groups such as The Byrds, Willie Nile, Laura Nyro, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Blue Angel.

Interesting related 'trivia minutiae' from link above:
His father, also named Roy Halee, provided the singing voice for Mighty Mouse in late 1940s Terrytoons cartoons.

Something we all need to know, right?
