On an epee it can be Spanish, French or Italian. How is it related to Charles John Huffam Dickens’ raven?

"There are four types of grips commonly used today in foil and epee: French, Italian (mostly seen in classical fencing), a hybrid of these two known as the Spanish grip..."

"Dickens had a pet raven named Grip."

So, the connection between the two would be "grip".
