    Both Ohio and Virginia claim him as a native son. The truth is, while he was born in Virginia and attended college there, he eventually came to Ohio as a result of his military service. He settled there after being territorial governor of Indiana. When he was elected president, he was a resident of Ohio and is buried in Southern Ohio,
