We don't even know how many SPECIES of trees there are:
"Assessment of the conservation status of the world's tree species is a major task given the overall number of trees believed to exist. The world's tree flora is estimated to total around 100,000 species. and estimated the number of tree species within these genera...In reality we can only make an informed guess at the total number of tree species."

Websites? In late 2006 there were over 100,000,000. Who knows now?
