    Who was called the German Lawrence of Arabia?

    		Dr. Fritz Grobba.

    These included Dr. Fritz Grobba, a veteran of the Foreign Office since 1924 who later served as the German ambassador to Iraq and Saudi Arabia. An admirer of Islamic culture who was nicknamed "the German Lawrence of Arabia", he became close friends with Husseini. After the war, Grobba converted to Islam and brokered deals between Nasser and the Germans and Soviets.
