Neither leister nor gig but rather a far more powerful weapon, its secret tail end was exposed on a virtual earth by a curious house hunter seeking property in Puget Sound. What specifically was exposed?

    Question #103209. Asked by edmund80. (Feb 21 09 1:46 AM)

It was the propeller of an Ohio Class Ballistic Missile Submarine at Bangor sub base.

The secret propellers that help keep Ohio-class submarines invisible on radar were spotted by Dan Twohig at the Trident Submarine Base is Bangor, Washington, as he was checking out real estate on Microsoft's Virtual Earth.

A trident can be called a leister or gig.

Yes. Amazing what you can find on the net these days.
"A photograph of a sensitive piece of Navy technology — the propeller of a ballistic-missile submarine — now appears on the Internet, thanks to commercial efforts to photograph and map all corners of the Earth by aircraft and satellite...The Navy goes to great lengths to conceal the design of its submarine propellers, but the aerial photo now on the Internet clearly shows the blades.
While he confirmed that the photo does show an Ohio-class hull, Lt. Cmdr. Chris Loundermon, submarine force public affairs officer, said it’s unclear what submarine is pictured."
