The Ohio Ball Bearing Company (I found no company only for transmissions by that name) was begun in 1923 by Joseph Bruening (his last name may have led to keeping it 'simple'). In 1953, the name was changed to Bearings, Inc., and they started trading stock and making acquisitions. They did well, too. Now the name seen in pics of a booklet, showing products, no doubt, is 'Applied' with 'Timkin' also mentioned.
A person must order anything from them, including any brochures including historical facts about them. I'm not even sure this is what you want since it's not just transmissions, though they deal those too. They do billions of sales a year. You could call them for free and ask this at 1-800-655-6552, or send an email to techsupport@applied.com <- the same words to use to make a link = http://www.applied.com -See what you may see. Luck to you. The pictures I saw were all machines, parts, or big new buildings, or shelves of goods behind smiling men.
