I'm trying to find the titles and author of two picture books in a series. They were beautifully drawn, about a blond girl who was the rightful queen that was taken over by a very evil man in black. The girl wore her hair in Swedish-like braids over her head. In one scene, she stands up on a table and confronts the evil man.
In another scene, a friend lights himself on fire and throws himself from a tower to save her. Can anyone help me?

Here are a few links I often give folks trying to locate books at another site; they are all 'clean' according to my virus & et ceteras in place on my machine:
http://www.auntiebook.com You'll probably be able to read that and know from the sound of it that Auntie Book is all about helping people find children's books, if that is what this is.
It's not familiar to me, though I keep thinking of the author of those very fractured fairy tales, like "Confessions of an Ugly Step-Sister" (good book) by Gregory Maguire. They have very fine artwork in them, though they are not for children unless the child is older and reading of more risque things, etc.
Now: http://www.amazon.com I often go to Amazon just to look at covers of 'possibilities' to help folks find books, but if they know one as well as you know this, it's best to check yourself.
Suggest you are sure you're in the Book category at the top, then in the second search box up there, try 'queen stories, ages __' and see what you see. Explore that site. It's huge, and has much to see and read; also look at the left to see how many books might be in the genre and age-group you refer to. All are links there.
http://www.eBay.com is also an interesting place to look on occasion. http://www.baumanrarebooks.com is only a site to visit if you think this book is "rare." At the right are two ways to contact them for more info if so; they also have a drop-down menu for frequently asked questions.
Good luck! Last (maybe first) stop: a good public library.
