I cant find any reference to it being issued in the actual Readers digest issues. I will continue to look.

It was published in the Readers Digest Condensed Books ion Volume 36.

    Volume 36 - Winter 1959

    The Admen - Shepherd Mead
The Rainbow and the Rose - Nevil Shute
Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris - Paul Gallico
The Ugly American - Wm. J. Lederer & Eugene Burdick
The White Room - Elizabeth Coatsworth
Woman of Straw - Catherine Arley

Tough question! I'm not finding much, but if memory serves me correctly -- The Reader's Digest Magazine did publish books in "installment" form:

"...it was the USA edition of the Reader's Digest
magazine in which I originally read the book I am looking for."

Does anyone know if an experiment ever took place over a number of years concerning the "eat five and stay alive" where those that ate fruit and vegetables every day had not one case of cancer, where on the other hand, some who never ate any fruit and vegetables did contract cancer? I think I remember reading something about this in Readers Digest years ago, can't find a thing about it though.
