3 teams: the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals played in the 1922 season. The Bears and Cardinals were charter members of the APFL league in 1920, which changed its name to the NFL in 1922. In 1920, the Bears were the Decatur Staleys, moving to Chicago in 1921 and in 1922 changing their name to the Bears for that first NFL season. The Cardinals were their cross-town Chicago rivals until they moved to St. Louis in 1959, and finally Arizona in 1988. The Packers started league play a year after the other two, so they did participate in the inaugural NFL season as well.
