I recently heard the host of a nationally broadcast radio show state that there is enough retail space in the United States to provide a living space for each person in the country. I believe this includes unoccupied retail space. Could this statement be true?

Probably depends on what you call 'living space'. I would assume that there is at least 'standing room' for everyone considering the size of malls and warehouse stores. (No citation)
