    		It does vary as stated.

    At the end of the 2004 climbing season, 1,400 different climbers from twenty different countries had completed a total of over 2000 climbs.

    Onaverage, about 150 people reach thesummit of Everest each year, and five die.

    So that approx 1800 but I have read reports of nearly 2k.
