    Is there a patron saint of computers or of the Internet, and if so, what were the circumstances behind it?

    yes there is "Saint Isidore of Seville is the Patron Saint of the internet, computer technicians, computer users, computers, school children and students." He was chosen for his aims of documenting all the knowledge known to man, much in the same way that the internet has all of the worlds knowledge.

    The patron saint of computers, users, programmers and the internet is St. Isadore of Seville. The saint was chosen by the Observation Servive for Internet chose St. Isadore because his work "Etymologies" gave his work a similar structure to a database.
