    Witchcraft and the left

    During the Middle Ages, it was, of course, natural to persecute anyone who deviated from the norm, be they red-headed, three-nippled or left-handed.

    		In Turkey, my father was given special treatment because he has blue eyes - over there they consider such eye color to be a demonic trait, and believe in bad luck for people who are gazed at by blue-eyed people. This was in the late 1990s
