    Why don't birds that sit on power lines get electric shock as do human beings?

    		Birds can sit on power lines as they have no contact with ground and are not 'grounded'.

    		Birds do not get electrified if they do not touch more than one wire. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance. For the electricity to travel up one leg of a bird and down the other, it would require more energy than to simply travel through the wire. However, if a bird touches two wires at the same time, it creates a new path for electricity to travel down, so the bird is toast. The same would apply to humans, if one could manage to hang onto a power line without touching another wire or the ground.
