    		Yes it was. Before him were Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, and Marcus Allen, but Desmond Howard was the most recent in 1991.

    		Although Desmond Howard was a wide receiver, he won the Super Bowl MVP for his work returning kicks. In fact, he was the first special-teams player to win the Super Bowl MVP award.
