    		Was it "Patriotic Association of Colored Men."?

    A group that started an early version of what is now Memorial Day by burying the dead in a Racecourse in Charleston.

    		Yes indeed, they called themselves by both names.
    Their "decoration day" memorial pre-dates the officially recognized one by a year.
