What connects Joyce Carol Oates, Pride and Prejudice, Robert Cummings and Jerry Thomas?

Question #105859. Asked by Datsmeharse. (May 26 09 8:04 PM)

    Zombie.

The first three are the same as in Question #105857. Jerry Thomas fits in here for his 1862 Bartender's Guide which had a "zombie" mixed drink in it.

Unfortunately G-towner your reference does not mention the word zombie, nor does his 1862 book.

The word zombie didn't enter into English until circa 1871:

The Zombie cocktail first appeared in the 1930's:

You have the right Jerry Thomas though!

It was "Collins" in case anyone cares.
Harper Collins is Oates' publishing house,
Pride and Prejudice has Mr. Collins,
Robert Cummings played Bob Collins in the long-running The Robert Cummings Show, aka Love that Bob,
and Jerry Thomas published the first Tom Collins recipe.
