    'Blade Runner' targets London success
    Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Oscar Pistorius admits it would be 'a dream' to participate in both the Olympics and Paralympics in London in four years time.

The 21-year-old double amputee, nicknamed the 'Blade Runner' due to his prosthetic j-shaped legs, won three gold medals in Beijing, triumphing in the men's T44 100 metres, 200m and 400m.

The South African successfully won an appeal to compete in the 400m in last month's Olympics before subsequently failing to qualify.

His best time of 46.25 seconds was set in open competition in Lucerne, Switzerland, in July in a last-ditch attempt to reach the games of the XXIX Olympiad.

Those are great answers for Paralympic champions; there have been many 3-time gold medalists in that competition, with the largest haul made by Ragnhild Myklebust with 17 golds.
The athlete in question won their medals before the Paralympics or Special Olympics were contested.

Eyser made the U.S. team and competed during the 1904 Summer Games in St. Louis, Mo., despite his wooden left leg — eventually winning the gold medals in the vault, parallel bars and rope climbing.

Eyser is correct. I believe he competed without his prothesis on.
