Does "dustfree" school chalk contain any real chalk?

    Question #106155. Asked by flem-ish. (Jun 07 09 11:58 PM)

School 'chalk' is not actually chalk. It is gypsum. Chalk is a form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Gypsum is a form of calcium sulphate (CaSO4). So no, it contains no chalk whatsoever. It does, however, contain gypsum.
