Zero NBA franchises have ever been owned by a woman.
There is, however, lots of pride this year (2008-09) for having 8 more women in the fanchise and league OFFICES than last year ("celebrate new diversity") as is written at http://www.ESPN.com/NBA [scroll down to see in the gray bar, under 'Top Stories' -"NBA gets top marks for diversity in a study"...these women, all 31 total of them are vice-presidents. Don't know how many VPs a franchise usually has but would guess a few. Among 61 referees of the game, there is one female at work, Violet __. There are of course no women coaches at all.
In 2001 a 'D' League of the NBA was created "as a minor league" but I read nothing about it. It was in '96 that the WNBA was brought into being, and I guess many women hoopsters would rather deal with each other in as players, though ownership of a franchise is hardly playing, nor coaching nor being the referee of a game, is it?
Sources also include http://www.insideusabasketball.com and the ubiquitous http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA (have to search around there). All articles updated June 10, 09.

Need to add for you, at that ESPN site, you must first look under 'Stats' at the top to reach the next gray bar down, the one that says "NBA gets high marks for diversity..." and you'll see what I wrote about. Excuse any errors in typing. Am suddenly in a very big hurry!!!
