Changed to Chad Ochocinco on August 29, 2008, Chad Johnson's last name matches the two digits found on his Cincinnati Bengals Jersey. 8 and 5. 85 would be pronounced ochenta y cinco.
For the 2008-2009 season, he was still required to wear jerseys with the Johnson name due to financial obligations with Reebok.
He will have the Ochocinco name for the 2009-2010 season.

Technically, it has no meaning, because there is no word 'ochocinco' in Spanish. He ran the words ocho and cinco together on his name change application. The NFL insists he play under his legal name Ochocinco, though he had really meant it to be Ocho Cinco.
