Over the last few millions of years the Earth has had quite a few impacts from meteors, asteroids, and maybe even peices of comets. Scientists have confirmed 172 locations on the Earth determined to be "impact structures".

It's interesting to note that our planet has been bombarded with meteorites since, and during, it's formation. But the Earth's atmosphere and weather system is like a cleaning system and literally 'hoovers' up the mess, through erosion, so we'll never really be able to truely estimate how many times the Earth has been hit.
