What is the smallest incorporated city in the United States in population?

Question #106881. Asked by serpa. (Jul 06 09 7:35 AM)

The smallest incorporated city in the United States was Maza, North Dakota with only 5 residents. In 2002 the City of Maza was absorbed into the surrounding township of Maza.

This question poses a challenge due to the fact of how one would define what exactly a "city" constitutes.

For example, there are numerous "ghost towns" through out the US that have a population of zero.

But some might consider a "ghost town" as not counting.

Tenney, Minnesota might be more acceptable as a "city":

The population bottomed out at 2 sometime after the 2000 census, but due to the energetic efforts of current residents, the population has again risen to six, and efforts to attract more residents are ongoing.

Population wise, what is the smallest city in the United States and in the UK?

When I look up population size of a city in the United States for example, I always get something like this: Population - City 519,145 - Urban 3,499,840 - Metro 5,376,285, yet I look up Sydney, population: 4,336,374 is only one figure which is city plus suburbs, or Moscow 10,509,000 only one figure, city plus suburbs.
