Which hotel was the first to use the "Do Not Disturb" signs?

    Question #106988. Asked by ThurstAsh13. (Jul 10 09 8:20 AM)

    looney_tunes

"Hotels use 'do not disturb' or 'privacy' signs to make their guests feel more comfortable and secure in places away from home. They are omnipresent on hotel door knobs in almost every nation and destination of the world. Not much is known about their origin. The first widespread use was likely in the early twentieth century in Europe and the United States, particularly by the more prestigious hotels where discretion was the better part of value."
