Besides the earth, where else in the universe is it known that water currently exists?

    Question #107284. Asked by star_gazer. (Jul 21 09 7:00 PM)

    BRY2K

    Here are some examples:

Water vapor is thought to exist in clouds of dust and gas that feed the supermassive black hole at the center of an ancient quasar 11.1 billion years distant from Earth.

A research group from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy used the 100 m Effelsberg radio telescope to detect the water at the greatest distance from Earth so far recorded. The water vapour was discovered in the quasar MG J0414+0534 at redshift 2.64.

Ice on the Moon: Over the last couple of years, spacecraft orbiting the Moon have used radar to study its surface. The reflection of the radar signals from craters near
he poles indicates that there may be a large amount of subsurface ice there.

Comets: Comets are chunks of dust and frozen gases including water that are in highly oblong (elliptical or hyperbolic) orbits around the Sun.

On this date quite a long time ago, a certain body of water was involved in a famous man's activities and later figured in the historical account and a well-known idiom. We really aren't quite sure which body of water this was, though a Starbucks now exists at the supposedly-relevant site (naturally), and some historians think that they've got a lock on the location.
