    Of all the hundreds of riots that happened in US cities in the turbulent 1960s, the local National Guard was often called in to put down the riot. How many times in the 1960s was the U.S. Army brought in to end the riot?

    		I could only find one reference to US Army troops being called in to end a riot. That took place on July 23, 1967 in Detriot. The so-called 12th Street Riot ended with 43 dead and 467 injured. 4,700 troops from the 82nd airborne were ordered in by President Johnson.
