Years ago I had a world map showing two capitols of Bolivia. One of course was La Paz. If I remember correctly the other was Sucre, or something like that. What was that all about?

Sucre was the first capital, established in 1839 and it was the home of the Conservatives. The silver mine and landowners supported this party. In 1899, a revolution occurred and the Liberal Party overthrew the Conservatives and tried to move the capital to La Paz, the center of tin mining. The presidency and Congress were moved to La Paz, but Sucre remains the legal capital and is currently the home of Bolivia's Supreme Court of Justice.

It's not unique - South Africa has three. Pretoria is the executive capital, Bloemfontein the judicial, and Cape Town the legislative. And none of the three is the largest city - that's Johannesburg! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa
