    What diminutive suffixes exist in Italian?

    -ino/-ina and -etto/-etta are the most common ones. The first two are mostly for people and the second pair is mostly for inanimate objects. Additional suffixes include -ello/-ella and -uccio.

    These diminutives are familiar to English-speakers in words such as operetta (an opera on a lesser subject) and linguine (little tongues).
