Recently, a product stresses in its adverts that it doesn't appear on any price comparison sites. Why is this such a selling point?

Question #108159. Asked by gmackematix. (Aug 20 09 4:52 PM)

It's Direct Line insurance, and the selling point is unlike what they'd like us to think, clients pay to be 'chosen' by price comparison sites, so many of the potentially cheapest are not ever going to be recommended as they refuse to play ball. In fact they are not offering the service they claim so could be closed for misrepresentation, but presume the sites have very small print explaining the true situation no one ever actually reads or they'd be shut down in minutes.
