Most recent data I could find: 800 gangs, 4 major gangs
Although not all OMGs fit the definition of organized crime, many of the estimated 800 motorcycle gangs operating in the United States do (FBI, 1985). Over the years, four of
these groups have emerged as being the largest and most sophisticated. These are the Hell's Angels, the Outlaws, the Pagans. and the Bandidos. Of these, all but the Pagans have chapters in both the United States and foreign
countries. In fact, in 1985 the FBI estimated that the Hells Angels alone had over 63 chapters in 13 countries. In addition to these four groups, many other sophisticated but smaller OMGs also operate in the United States. These groups include the Vagos, located in the West and Southwest; the Warlocks, operating in the tri-state areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware; the Dirty Dozen in Arizona; the Gypsy Jokers in the Pacific Northwest; and the Sons of Silence, located in Colorado.
