    What country remains the last post-Soviet state with capital punishment?

    		Of all European countries...only Belarus still practices capital punishment. Russia maintains the death penalty in law, but currently practices a de facto moratorium, the last execution officially taking place in 1996. Latvia has abolished the death penalty for ordinary crimes but retains it for crimes during wartime.

    		Yes, and since Uzbekistan abolished capital punishment in 2008, Belarus is also the only remaning post-Soviet state to practice it.
