    For those needing a colonoscopy, why is it desirable to have a third eye looking back?

    		The FDA recently approved a third-eye
    retroscope, a device placed into the channel
    of the endoscope that retroflexes and
    transmits an image to a monitor. A polarizer
    prevents the light source from blinding
    the operator during the retroflex view.
    The device could help speed up exams.

    		Correct. The retroscope is available in some hospitals, but not all. It improves polyp detection compared to conventional scoping and below are more sources to better inform those interested.
