    King Edward I came after Edward the Confessor; so then why is he called Edward I?

    		Rulers of England are numbered after the Norman Conquest (1066). There were actually 3 King Edwards prior to Edward I.

    		Correct.

    This might have something to do with the fact that King William I (Conqueror) was also called "The Bastard".
