Is the word "trapeze" only used in the acrobatic sense, or is there a sedentary usage?

Not exactly sedentary, but a trapeze wire is used on some sailing boats to assist crew members when hiking out (leaning over the edge of the boat to help balance it against the tilting force of the wind in the sails.

IN some European nations , "trapese"or "trapeze" is uded instead of the word "trapezoid."
