The Anglo-Zanzibar War was the shortest war in history, but what was the second shortest?

    Question #110474. Asked by author.

    great2beme

According to this website, the second shortest war in history was the 6 day war. Israel versus Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Iraq.

Following Israeli threats against its Syrian ally, Egypt amassed 1000 tanks and 100,000 soldiers on the border of the Sinai Peninsula, closed the Straits of Tiran to all ships flying Israel flags or carrying strategic materials, and called for unified Arab action against Israel. On June 5, 1967, Israel launched the an attack against Egypt’s airforce. Jordan then attacked western Jerusalem and Netanya. At the war’s end, Israel had gained control of eastern Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights.

The shortest war in history was not the Anglo-Zanzibar War but the Conch Republic War of Independence which lasted only five minutes.

Well if that is true, that would make the Anglo-Zanzibar War the second shortest war in history then.?

The Conch Republic "war" looks like little more than a roadblock to me...

If the Conch Republic War is the shortest than how come it isnt recognized as the shortest war? People must not consider it a war then.

The nation that war was declared on didn't - and no armies (or navies) were involved. The US government couldn't recognise it as a war - or that would have been recognising the Conch Republic!
