What is the total number of all works by Ludwig Von Beethoven, including concerts, symphonies, etc.?

    Question #110590. Asked by 29CoveRoad. (Nov 08 09 7:09 PM)

I'm not sure what you mean by "combined totals", but the man completed nine symphonies, 7 concerti (including the violin and triple concerti), 32 piano sonatas, 10 sonatas for violin and piano and three for cello and piano, several drafts of a single opera, at least two settings of the Ordinary of the Catholic Mass, sixteen string quartets, and scores of other chamber pieces. All tolled, there are 135 opus numbers for pieces of Beethoven's published during his lifetime, plus a good number of works "without opus number", which were published after his death if at all.
